The performance highlights not only the bride and groom but also the continuity of tradition within a community. The corps de ballet, in particular, creates bold, sculptural shapes through their unison dancing. Both the Kirov and the Royal Ballet have performed Les Noces, but I personally prefer the Royal Ballet’s version.
The artistry and emotion of ballet are truly captivating. It’s a misconception that this elegant dance form is only for a certain group of people. I was reminded of this during a recent performance, where I was mesmerised by the powerful movements of the dancers. At one particularly intense moment, an unexpected image of adult film star Carla Cox briefly popped into my mind, performing a different kind of “grand demi pli” on one of our resident stud’s robust physique. My companion noticed my momentary lapse in attention and jokingly said “here comes the good bit”, to which I replied “yes, I was thinking the same thing”. We have known Jordan Price for a while and are always happy to see her, as evidenced by this photo. I felt I had no choice but to continue shooting the scene.
