Every now and then I end up tumbling down an internet rabbit hole and land on something unexpectedly brilliant. This time it was an old Babeshows Forum thread from 2009 with the poetic title “Hair today, gone tomorrow”.
It all started with one innocent little question: Are there any hirsute lovers out there? And from there, chaos. Because if there’s one thing Babestation fans have always had in abundance, it’s very strong opinions about what’s happening south of the waistband.
So for anyone who missed it the first time around, here’s my recap of what you actually said.
The original poster: “Bring back the pubes”
The thread kicked off thanks to StanTheMan, who basically marched into the forum and announced he was bored stiff of perfectly waxed bikini lines. He said smooth was everywhere, that he got far more excitement when there was a bit of hair peeking out of the knickers, and that it felt like about 98 percent of TV babes went for the same polished look.

He even rolled out some nostalgia, namechecking Avalon, Tammy from her Babestar days, and French Chloe on Babecast as examples of babes who kept things more natural back in the day. Then he wrapped it all up with a rallying cry that really set the tone.
Bring back the pubes.
Not exactly subtle, but it definitely hit a nerve.
Camp Smooth vs Camp Bush vs “Just give me a runway”
It didn’t take long for the thread to split into camps. First up, the absolutely not crowd. These lads were not having it at all. One said that seeing hair poking out of knickers would be an instant turn-off. Another said he outright detested full bushes and could only tolerate a tiny landing strip at most. Forum legend Stacey made his stance crystal clear with a blunt verdict: smooth or runway, no bush.
No negotiations. No wiggle room.
Then you had the middle-ground lot. Black knight admitted he wasn’t into full-on hairy, but he did like a little runway. Something neat. Not bald, not wild. Somewhere sensible. He even came back later with a daft little poem explaining that while he loved a tidy strip, he’d still fancy Abbi whatever she chose to do. Basically the emotional centre of the whole thread, whether he meant to be or not.
And finally, the bush defenders. A few posters backed Stan completely. One said totally bald did nothing for him, and that a neat patch of hair through lingerie was far sexier than bare skin. Others said they were fed up with everything looking identical and loved seeing more natural bikini lines on screen.
By page two, Stan was off on a fantasy tangent about banning landing strips entirely and sending in imaginary bush inspectors to confiscate razors and wax pots. I’m choosing to believe that was at least partly tongue-in-cheek.
TV bodies vs real-life bodies
One of the more interesting points came from ‘oysters’, who pointed out that in real life, most women he knew weren’t totally smooth. Plenty had landing strips or kept things natural, and he wondered if viewers were being spoiled by chatline babes and forgetting what everyday bodies actually look like.
That sparked a side debate. Hester jumped in saying he knew women who were completely bare. They joked about whether shaving alone could even get things that smooth, or if waxing and creams were doing most of the heavy lifting. Oysters then casually admitted that his horniest girlfriend happened to be smooth, which pretty much summed up the entire conversation.
From my point of view, it’s a reminder that what you see on screen is styling. Real bodies out in the wild come in all sorts of variations.
Is smooth just a phase, or here to stay?
Another poster tried to calm the whole thing down by suggesting the shaved trend was just a fad. Like wooden floors and decking. Carpets and lawns would make a comeback eventually. Stan was not convinced. He pointed out that smooth had been popular since the early 90s and doubled down on his dream world where shaved designs were banned entirely. On the flip side, Hester was flying the flag for waxing, posting an extreme example of full hair and begging women to keep the wax flowing because, in his words, most of us love it.
The result was a classic Babestation stalemate. Some were convinced the bush would return. Some were happy to keep things polished forever.
What I take from it now
Reading that thread back years later, it’s actually kind of sweet. The bush vs smooth debate clearly isn’t going anywhere. Plenty of viewers love a more natural look, even if they sometimes feel like they’re in the minority. Plenty still love smooth or runway, and that’s completely fine too.
The real win is variety. Cam Babes choosing what feels right for them, and fans having options.

From a Babestation point of view, it just confirms what we already see every day. There’s demand for natural, old-school looks. There’s also a huge audience for the fully groomed, polished style. The smart move isn’t picking a winner. It’s making room for both.
So yes, Stan. In a way, your wish came true. The bring back the pubes crowd never went anywhere. They’ve just been quietly existing, posting on forums, searching for “hairy”, and nodding along every time someone dares to say they like it a bit more wild.
Final thought from your favourite fox
If you’ve ever felt like the only person who prefers things natural, that thread should cure you of that idea pretty quickly. You’re not alone. Not even close. And whether you’re Team Smooth, Team Runway, or Team Bring Back the Bush, just remember this: The only wrong opinion is the one that tells everyone else they’re not allowed to have theirs.
