Every now and then, when the studio lights go off and the cameras stop rolling, there’s a rumour that somewhere deep inside the Babestation building lies a mysterious place known only as the Babestation library. It’s not quite the British Library. You won’t find Shakespeare manuscripts or ancient maps. But what you might find are old magazine clippings, studio photos, newspaper stories and bits of television history from the early days of the channel.
Naturally, curiosity got the better of me. So armed with a cup of coffee and a suspicious amount of enthusiasm, I decided to go digging through the Babestation archives to see what secrets might be hiding in there. And sure enough, tucked away between some old press cuttings and promotional material, I stumbled across a few fascinating relics from the very early days of Babestation.

They offer a brilliant little snapshot of what the channel looked like when it first appeared on British television.
Clue #1: Sky Channel 223
One of the most interesting finds was an early promotional advert describing Babestation as a:
“Live interactive TV show… on Sky channel 223.” That small detail is actually a very useful historical clue.
Back in the early 2000s, Sky’s channel listings were organised very differently from today. Adult channels were only just starting to appear in the satellite lineup, and channel numbers shifted around several times as the platform grew.
Seeing Babestation advertised on channel 223 places this material right in the early babeshow era, when the format was still relatively new on British television. In other words, we’re looking at the moment when Babestation first started appearing on late-night screens across the country.
Clue #2: Win a DVD Player!
Another advert from the same archive had a wonderfully nostalgic promotion splashed across it: “WIN A DVD PLAYER! TEXT WIN TO 84148.”
Now that might sound fairly ordinary today, but back in the early 2000s a DVD player was still considered a pretty exciting prize. More importantly, the advert highlights something else that defined that era of television: premium SMS competitions. This was the golden age of participation TV.

Viewers were encouraged to:
- send text messages to short codes
- enter competitions during the show
- interact with presenters using their mobile phones
The same technology that powered ringtone downloads, mobile logos and text competitions also helped fuel the growth of interactive TV formats.
Babeshows were perfectly suited to that model. Instead of just watching, viewers could call or text the babes and become part of the show.
Clue #3: “Behind the Scenes at Raunchy New TV Show”
Perhaps the most entertaining discovery was a tabloid newspaper clipping describing a visit to the studio. The headline read something along the lines of:
“Behind the scenes at raunchy new TV show Babe Station.”
The key phrase there is “new TV show.”
When the press began covering Babestation in the early 2000s, the idea of late-night interactive glamour television was still quite unusual. Journalists often treated it as a strange experiment – part phone sex show, part glamour modelling, part late-night entertainment.
Looking back now, it’s easy to forget that babeshows were once a brand new format. At the time they were seen as a slightly cheeky innovation in late-night broadcasting.
A Snapshot of the Babeshow Era
Taken together, these little archive finds tell us something quite interesting. They capture a moment when several things were happening at once:

- satellite TV expanding
- mobile phones becoming mainstream
- SMS competitions everywhere
- interactive late-night television
Out of that strange and exciting media landscape emerged the babeshow format that would go on to define a whole era of British late-night TV. And right there in the middle of it all was Babestation.
A Little Piece of TV History
Finding these old clippings in the Babestation archives is a reminder that the channel has been part of British adult entertainment history for quite a long time now. What started as a late-night interactive TV experiment eventually evolved into a full digital platform, live cam shows and online streaming.
While the archives tell the story of where Babestation began, the real story is still being written. Explore today’s live cam girls, exclusive content and the personalities keeping late-night entertainment as exciting as ever.
