It’s me, Reede Fox, and if you think babeshows are a bit cheeky now, wait until you hear what Babecast was originally called.
Because before the branding, before the polish, before anyone had really figured out where the line was…
It was just called “Free Sex TV.”
No mystery. No subtlety. Just straight to the point. And honestly? That tells you everything about the early 2000s babeshow era.
Before Babecast Was Babecast
Most people remember Babecast as one of the early babeshows that popped up during that slightly chaotic boom of late-night interactive TV. But it didn’t start as Babecast. When it launched back in July 2003, it came out under that original name, and you can imagine the kind of attention that got.
Around the same time, Babestation had already proven the format worked. Late-night, live girls, viewers calling in for cheap phone sex – simple setup, but it pulled numbers. And naturally, that caught attention.

Enter David Sullivan
If you know anything about the old-school glamour world, you’ll know that name. He built a big chunk of his empire through the Daily Sport, which, let’s be honest, wasn’t exactly shy about what it was. So when babeshows started taking off, it made perfect sense for him to move into TV.
The idea was straightforward: take the audience he already had, stick it on screen, and give them a way to interact. That meant premium-rate calls, texts, and live models – the full package.
The Launch That Got Everyone Talking
The show went out on Friendly TV, which already did a lot of call-in style programming. But here’s the key bit – it wasn’t encrypted. So instead of signing up or messing about with access, you could just… flick it on after 11pm. And suddenly, there it was. Live models. Viewer interaction. And a name that basically dared regulators to get involved.
Unsurprisingly, people noticed. Early viewers weren’t exactly subtle about their reactions either. Online forums lit up with people going,
“hang on… what is this?”
Because compared to what else was on at the time, it pushed things a lot further than people expected.

And Then… The Inevitable Happened
At that point, UK broadcasting was regulated by the Independent Television Commission (before Ofcom took over).
Complaints came in. Reviews happened. And it didn’t take long for them to decide it had crossed a few lines. We’re talking issues around:
- taste and decency
- how adult content was being presented
- and how those premium-rate services were being pushed
Friendly TV basically had to admit it had all gone a bit too far for an unencrypted channel. Which… fair enough.
The Rebrand
So the name “Free Sex TV” didn’t last. Very quickly, it was reined in, repackaged, and given the name people actually remember: Babecast.
Same core idea – live girls, viewer interaction, just toned down enough to stay on the right side of the rules. And from there, it settled into the early babeshow scene and became one of the names people recognised.
Why It Stood Out
One thing that gave Babecast an edge early on was the link to the Daily Sport. A lot of the girls appearing on the show were already known from the paper. So for viewers, it wasn’t just random presenters, it was faces they’d already seen, now live on screen and actually interacting. At the time, that felt new. Now it sounds normal. Back then, it wasn’t.
A Slightly Unhinged Era of TV
Looking back, the early 2000s were a bit of a free-for-all when it came to late-night satellite TV. People were testing limits. Seeing what they could get away with. Figuring it out as they went along.

And “Free Sex TV” is probably one of the best examples of that. Say what you want about it, subtle it was not.
The Weird Full-Circle Moment
What’s funny is that later on, Babecast and Babestation ended up sharing the same building on Great Portland Street. Different teams, different setups – but under the same roof. Which feels very on-brand for the industry, to be honest.
Final Thought
The name “Free Sex TV” has mostly disappeared now, but it’s a brilliant little snapshot of how the whole babeshow world started. A bit chaotic. Not massively worried about subtlety, and very much figuring things out as it went. Which, if you’ve ever been around babeshows for long enough…
…sounds about right. We’ve still got a few of Babecast’s finest appearing on live cams so when you next fancy a gander at some spectacular babes, you know where to come.
